Make this sparkling non-alcoholic Bellini

It’s nice to have a drop of bubbly at Christmas, and with our sparkling non-alcoholic Bellini mocktail you don’t need to miss out if you’re cutting down on alcohol.

The delicious, fruity drink is an easy-to-make take on the classic Bellini cocktail – combining non-alcoholic prosecco with peach puree to make a lovely festive treat.

Ingredients

  • Bottle of non-alcoholic prosecco (usually sold in 75cl bottles)
  • Two ripe peaches (or a tin of peaches)
  • Chilled champagne glasses

Method

  1. Peel the peaches and remove their stones, if using fresh ones.
  2. Place peaches in a small blender and mix until you have a smooth puree.
  3. Fill one third of each glass with peach puree (about 50ml).
  4. Top up with around 100ml of non-alcoholic prosecco and stir with a small spoon.
  5. Enjoy your sparkling Bellini mocktail.

Note: You can blend the peaches well in advance and keep the puree in the fridge, if needed.

Variations

If peaches aren’t really your bag, or you just fancy trying something different, here are a few more ideas:

Strawberry Bellini – blend strawberries and strain out the seeds, then mix in same amounts.

Raspberry Bellini – blend raspberries with a little sugar, and strain out seeds. Mix in same amounts but add a little mint if you wish.

Beezeelini – yes, we did just make that name up, but adding a bit of honey to a standard Bellini is a popular option.

Bucks fizz – the classic Christmas cocktail, but replacing the Champagne with non-alcoholic prosecco. The mix is one-third orange juice and two-thirds bubbly.

Fun Bellini facts

The Bellini was invented at the famous Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy, at some point between 1934 and 1948.

It is named after Renaissance artist Giovanni Bellini, because the pink colour reminded Harry’s Bar owner Giuseppe Cipriani of Bellini’s paintings.

It is traditionally made with white peaches, though any peaches can be used. And cherry juice or raspberry have been added in the past.

Our support

In our Beezee Adults course we cover drinks and alcohol. We are big believers in balance, and making small swaps which make a big difference over time.

You don’t need to go teetotal, but cutting a couple of pints or glasses of wine a week can go a long way.

During the festive period, social drinking can be challenging! So, mixing it up with mocktails and sugar-free soft drinks can help you stay on track with your health goals.
