Freaky Fruit! Three Healthy Halloween Snacks

The scariest thing about Halloween for parents? The sugar! It turns the little monsters possessed! But it doesn’t need to be all Cadbury goo heads and toffee apples and candy corn. Why not have a culinary crafty afternoon with your kids making these frightful fruity treats?

Hannah & Lily have put together some simple, spooky ideas for some healthier Halloween treats.

BOO! Bananas

Ingredients 

  • Bananas, peeled and cut in half  
  • Chocolate chips 

Instructions 

  1. Stick the chocolate chips into the bananas to create a face 
  2. Wasn’t that easy?!

Ingredients 

  • 2 green apples, each quartered  
  • Flaked almonds (or sunflower seeds) 
  • 2-3 strawberries, sliced  
  • Peanut butter (or sunflower butter, or jam) 
  • Chocolate chips or raisins (for eyes) 

 

Instructions 

  1. Cut the apples into quarters  
  2. Cut the middles our of each quarter of the apple to create the mouth – don’t worry about making this perfect – they get filled with peanut butter anyway!  
  3. Fill the inside of the mouth with peanut butter (or substitute) 
  4. Place the strawberry slice on the bottom of the mouth for the tongue  
  5. Place the almond flakes on the top of the mouth for the teeth  
  6. Glue the almond eye above the mouth using melted chocolate, peanut butter, or anything you can think of!  
  7. Enjoy…if you dare!
Strawberry Mummies

Ingredients 

  • Strawberries  
  • Chocolate chips  
  • White chocolate  

Instructions 

  1. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave – for only 30s at a time 
  2. With a teaspoon, drizzle the melted chocolate over the strawberries to create the ‘bandage’  
  3. Stick the chocolate chips on for eyes!
