Eligibility Criteria

As our programmes are fully funded, we can only accept people who meet certain eligibility criteria set by the organisations that pay for it all. To join one of our Adults programmes, you’ll need to have:

A BMI >28 for black and minority ethnic groups

A BMI >30 for others

Or a BMI >28 if you have any co-morbidities that are affected by your weight e.g. type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis, dyslipidaemia, COPD, or sleep apnoea

If you don’t meet these criteria, then unfortunately you won’t be eligible to join one of our programmes. But you should be able to access alternative support through the dietetic service or your GP.

We are also unable to accept anyone with an eating disorder, an underlying medical cause for obesity, or a significant co-morbidity or complex needs as identified by your GP or another healthcare professional.

As our programmes are fully funded, we can only accept people who meet certain eligibility criteria set by the organisations that pay for it all. To join one of our Family programmes, at least one of your children will need to:

  • Be aged between 7-13 years, and
  • Have a BMI equal to or greater than the 91st centile

However, unfortunately we’re not able to accept children with an eating disorder, an underlying medical cause for obesity, or more complex needs such as learning difficulties or mental health issues.

In those cases, we would recommend talking to your GP, who will be able to suggest an appropriate course of action.
